This isn't the all-time biography ever written, just the subject matter is staggering... I'd known about the My Lai massacre for years, only I never knew there was a hero, someone that put his life on the line to protect the innocent. Equally appalling as the massacre was, the cover-up and the travesty of justice that followed is chilling. These two lessons, the massacre and the cover-up, are embarrassing parts of history that should be published far and broad to avert this ever happening again. Hugh Thomps This isn't the all-time biography ever written, but the field of study matter is staggering... I'd known near the My Lai massacre for years, but I never knew at that place was a hero, someone that put his life on the line to protect the innocent. Every bit appalling as the massacre was, the cover-up and the travesty of justice that followed is chilling. These two lessons, the massacre and the cover-up, are embarrassing parts of history that should be published far and wide to avert this ever happening over again. Hugh Thompson should exist a household proper name, a soldier studied in high schoolhouse, as there are lessons here that should be passed to the next generation.
The earth needs more than people like Hugh Thompson.

First-class! A touching book about the hero Army pilot Hugh Thompson.
In March 1968, American troops slaughtered over 500 civilians, generally women and children in a small Vietnamese village called My Lai.
Seeing what was happening from his helicopter, Thompson set down it down and went near rescuing people hiding from the bullets of American troops.
Written in 1999, it details Thompson receiving a medal for his actions that day, returning to Vietnam to reunite with those he saved, and a biography of Excellent! A touching book about the hero Army pilot Hugh Thompson.

Recommends it for: Anyone who likes History.
Very interesting truthful story of a soldier from Lafayette, LA. If you know anything near the My Lai Massacre in Vietnam or if yous just like reading almost things like that, you lot should read this volume. Mr. Thompson actually passed away near v years ago in Lafayette.

Unforgettable story of bravery... A new slice of American history that is a must-read.

Very practiced book about a local war hero who lived in Lafayette, La and recently passed abroad.
Anybody should read this book, it shows that some small amount of people under impossible situations, can remain human.
